Services delivered from Leschenault Day Centre include; Dementia Specific Program with a focus on recalling historic skills including cooking, woodwork, gardening, music – sing along and recognition games, intergenerational programs - visits from the local childcare centre. All programed activities are tailored to individual client needs and goals in a secured facility. A pictorial diary is available for each client upon request from family members. This is provided as a tool for families to promote conversation about their day at the centre.
Clients who require comprehensive care and activities are supported and encouraged to participate in low impact physical games and modified arts and crafts; cooking, expression through dance and music while interacting with other clients.
Young Adult Program directed to empower young people with life skills including; sexual health, food preparation, social media etiquette and safety, identifying threats in social settings or in the home and other topics raised by clients that they wish to discuss in an open forum. Physical health and wellbeing are encouraged by accessing community resources including sailing, surfing, and swimming. Group walks and team ball games are also popular.
Overnight Respite is offered from this venue, allowing family’s time off from their caring role with the knowledge that their family member is being cared for in a homely, secured and safe environment with friendly professional staff. This service is offered 7 days a week as requested and tailored to specific needs of the family and client.
