On Wednesday the 6th of June, Morrissey's Italian group hosted a "Festa della Repubblica" celebration. Members of the South West Italian Club and guests from Donnybrook joined the celebration to commemorate this important cultural event.
The creative team of volunteers from the South West Italian Club, led by Archie Tommasi brought the authentic flavours and tastes of Italy to 70 guests, consisting of Morrissey clients, family and invited friends by preparing and cooking a four course meal extravaganza.
Special guests Annette Whitelaw - Co-Patron and past Manager of Morrissey Homestead and Alison Comparti - member of the Board, both enjoyed the festivities and good company on the day. Eco D'Italia a South West Italian Folk Group led by Cosi and Rosa, provided the entertainment for the event.
Morrissey's Italian group meet each Wednesday of the month and enjoy a day of music, laughter and participate in a variety of activities and traditional games which include tombola, bocce, card games the occasional cooking demonstrations and guest musicians.
Once a month on a Friday the Italian group, appropriately named I'Compagni - meaning companion, gather together and visit local areas, recently travelling to Manjimup to gathering and roast chestnuts and to Armadale for the lovely cheeses produced there.
